Jewelry Care Guide
Anklets sit where they meet water, sand, sunscreen and shoes. A few habits keep them looking new for far longer.
Everyday habits that matter most
- Put your anklet on last, after lotion, sunscreen, perfume and hairspray have dried.
- Take it off before showering, swimming, hot tubs, saunas, sleeping and exercise.
- Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wear to remove sweat and skin oils.
- Store it flat and dry in the pouch it arrived in, away from other jewelry that could scratch it.
Gold-tone plated brass
Plating is a thin surface layer, so friction and moisture are what wear it down. Avoid chlorinated and salt water, and keep it away from household cleaners and alcohol-based products. Clean with a dry microfibre cloth only — no polishing compounds, no ultrasonic cleaners, no toothpaste, all of which strip plating.
Stainless steel, silver-tone
Stainless steel holds up better to moisture than plating. Clean it with a drop of mild soap in lukewarm water, rinse quickly, then dry completely with a soft cloth before storing. Do not soak it, and dry the clasp thoroughly.
Beaded and stone-set styles
Glass beads, imitation pearls and cubic zirconia settings should never be soaked. Wipe individual beads with a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Water trapped between a bead and its wire can dull the finish, and soap residue clouds stones.
Charms and clasps
Check the clasp and jump rings monthly by holding the anklet up and looking for gaps. If a ring has opened, stop wearing it and contact us — we would rather repair or replace it than have you lose a charm.
Fit and comfort
An anklet should rotate freely with about half an inch of ease. Too tight and the chain and your skin both suffer; too loose and it catches in shoes. Use the extender or slider rather than forcing the fit.
